Weekly Stuff E-Zine: Eulogy (2-28-99)

A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...
The was once a e-zine called Digested Digest, it was
started on June 7,1998 as a way to get entertainment
news to a few fringes and, hopefully, make a few new
ones in the process.  Digested Digest was a weekly
electronic magazine that lasted for 18 issues under
that tile and had some great moments including: the
Blast From The Past special (DD #10), the highly
personal The Black Cauldron review (DD #10), the
exclusive inside information on the Anime/Manga Forum
chat room closings (DD #18), ect...

With DD#3 came a special archive created on
Omega's Vanishing Point for back-issues of
Digested Digest.  This was later moved to
ROTFL.com where it make the number two spot
not he top 20 chart,  and later was moved back
to Vanishing Point when CompuServe upped the
megabit limit.

With issue 19, the e-zine's title was changed to
Weekly Stuff E-Zine.  Soon the 20 topics became
to much for some people and the e-zine was split
in 2 parts or 10 topics (Sci-Fi/Comic Book version
and Anime/Video Games version) and subscribers
could choose which parts to subscribe to.
The Anime version had several high points including
the Laws of Anime (WSE #25b & #26 ), the introduction
of Word Searches (WSE #27-#29), the presentation of
Dave Baranyi's Sex In Anime [which is by far the most
popular issue for some reason] (WSE #23b), and my own
Unofficial History of Pioneer Anime (WSE #20-#24b).
Overall, the Anime/Video Games version did the best
in terms of gaining new members and support.  And it
was because of this that the Sci-Fi/Comic Book version
was discontinued at issue #26 due to the flat-lining
quality and time consuming search for articles.

On November 28, 1998 the 29th (and final) issue of
Weekly Stuff E-Zine was released and on November 29,
1998 the 1st (and ultimately only) issue of
WSE Presents: Digested Digest II was sent out,
thus ending Adam "OMEGA" Arnold's days as an
e-zine publisher.

I am sorry for not releasing this message earlier,
but I couldn't ever get the words right to tell
everyone.  Plus I was still getting subscribe
requests, and I'm still getting request for the
Parasite Eve Walkthrough (from an article I used
in DD #18).  I just want to tell everyone that I
am sorry and that Digested Digest and Weekly Stuff
E-Zine are on indefinite hiatus and that I have
moved on to other projects.

If you are interested in reading old issues of
DD/WSE you can go about this two ways:
1.) Visit the Archive at
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/ablarnold/wsemain.html
2.) Download the Zip file collections:
A.) Digested Digest Collection (167 KB) contains:
Introduction, DD#1-18, Questionnaire, and the unreleased DD#19.
Download at: http:ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/ablarnold/download/omegadd2.zip
B.) Weekly Stuff E-Zine Collection  (212 KB) contains:
Introduction, WSE#19-29, DDII#1, Survey, Press Release, and this Uligy.
Download at: http:ourworld.CompuServe.com/homepages/ablarnold/download/wsecoll1.zip

Now, I could like to explain why the decision to cancel
DD/WSE was made.  I was so burned out by school, work,
and creating web pages that I couldn't possibly continue
doing the e-zine weekly.  And when Steve Diabo (Kaneda)
and I were discussing my plight, we came up with an
idea for an Anime News web site.  The time for that
web site has come!  Steve Diabo (Kaneda), Mike Baker,
Michiru Kaioh, Noriko Hirano, and I are proud to present...
ANIMEfringe, a new Anime fan site developed with the fan in
mind. Visit us today and give us some feedback. ^_^

Well, that's it.  I am glad I was given the chance
to bring you ll weekly news, reviews, and features
for as long as I did.  See you on the internet. ^_^
